HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng Limited crowned Third-place of the Golden Eagle Division in the second Hong Kong Accountants Football League 2026

HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng Limited is the third-place of the Golden Eagle Division in the second Hong Kong Accountants Football League 2026.
Organised by the Hong Kong Accountants Football Association, the second Hong Kong Accountants Football League 2026 held its association inauguration ceremony and the kickoff ceremony for the second Hong Kong Accountants Football League 2026 on 9 May 2026 at the South China Athletic Association Football Field in Causeway Bay. On the day of the event, numerous officials from the Government of the HKSAR, members of the Legislative Council and Chairmen of major accounting organizations, including Prof. Raymond Cheng, Chairman of HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng Limited were in attendance, to jointly witness this important milestone in the development of sports within Hong Kong’s accounting profession.
The football league and awards ceremony also came to a successful conclusion on 14 Jun 2026. After one and a half months intense matches, the tournament culminated on its final day with 16 teams from Hong Kong major accounting firms and professional bodies competing across four divisions.
Mr. Kenneth Cheng, the captain of HLB Soccer Team and Mr. Jeremy Kam, the vice-captain of HLB Soccer Team led the team secured third-place in the top division – Golden Eagle Divison. The team director Prof. Raymond Cheng (the Chairman of HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng Limited) and the team co-ordinator Mr. Davis Yu (Director of HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng Limited) provided crucial strategic guidance and timely adjustments throughout the tournament, helping HLB Soccer Team achieve this outstanding result.

CPA Sports Carnival 2026 HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng Limited as Gold Sponsor

Co-organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) and the Society of Chinese Accountants and Auditors (SCAACPA), the “CPA Sports Carnival 2026” was held on 6 June 2026 at the Hammer Hill Road Sports Ground in Diamond Hill. With the theme “Smart Health Future • Energetic CPAs”, the event attracted over 1,000 sports enthusiasts from the accounting profession. Mr. Chan Ho Lim, Joseph, JP, Under Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, 李旭鸿先生, 中央人民政府驻香港特别行政区联络办公室行政财务部副部长, Prof. Lam Chi Yuen, Nelson, JP, Director of Audit, Ms. Lai Chui Pik, Janey, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council and Hon. Ng Kam Wah, Webster, JP, Legislative Council member (Accountancy) were Guests of Honor of the Carnival.
Inaugurated in 2023, the “CPA Sports Carnival” is the profession’s largest sports and recreational event. HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng Limited is honored to be a Gold Sponsor of the Carnival.
Our Chairman, Prof. Raymond Cheng, represented the firm to receive certificate of appreciation and led a group of colleagues in actively participating in the Carnival, thereby promoting the importance of exercise for the physical and mental well-being of accountants.

Hong Kong accounting delegation’s study and exchange tour to Chongqing

A delegation of over 40 professional representatives from Hong Kong’s accounting profession, organized by the Hong Kong Association of Registered Public Interest Entity Auditors and the Hong Kong Business Accountants Association, visited Chongqing from 22 to 24 April 2026 to attend “Well-known Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Chongqing Tour” exchange event. Prof. Raymond Cheng, Chairman of our firm and Council Member of Hong Kong Association of Registered Public Interest Entity Auditors, and Mr. Andrew Shek, Director of our firm, were invited to participate in this exchange event.
On the first day, the delegation held discussions with Chongqing Municipal Finance Bureau and Chongqing Liangjiang New District Management Committee, and conducted an on-site visit to Jiangbeizui Accounting Industrial Park. The delegation subsequently visited Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and attended a high-level symposium, which was chaired by Zhang Yaxi, Deputy Director of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and Li Hangpeng, Director of Financial Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Committee, amongst others. The following day, the delegation visited Chongqing Planning Exhibition Hall and attended Dadukou District Special Industry Inspection Event, further promoting cooperation between Chongqing and Hong Kong in areas such as emerging industries. On 24 April 2026, the delegation also attended a high-level symposium. In the presence of over a hundred representatives from Chongqing and Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Association of Registered Public Interest Entity Auditors, the Hong Kong Business Accountants Association, the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Chongqing Institute of Certified Public Accountants jointly signed a “Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Cooperation Framework”, marking a new phase of institutionalized and regularized cooperation between the accounting professions of Chongqing and Hong Kong. In future, there will be in-depth collaboration in areas such as cross-border audit services, capital market integration, professional talent training and support for enterprises “going global”. These joint efforts will serve to strengthen the broader national strategy of high-level opening-up.
Prof. Raymond Cheng has consistently maintained close communication with the accounting communities in Mainland China and Hong Kong SAR, as well as with relevant mainland authorities. During this exchange visit, he spared no effort in promoting cooperation between Chongqing and Hong Kong in the fields of professional services such as accounting and auditing, making significant contributions.

The 3rd Hong Kong Capital Markets Forum 2026, jointly organized by Hong Kong Association of Registered Public Interest Entity Auditors Limited (PIEAA), The Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies (CHKLC), The Hong Kong Institute of Directors (HKIoD), and the Association of Hong Kong Capital Market Practitioners Limited (HKCMP), was successfully held on 28 January 2026 at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. Under the theme “Capturing the Next Growth Momentum”, professionals from the capital markets, government institutions, the academia, and the financial industry discuss how to transform emerging opportunities into sustainable new engines of growth, thereby enhancing the competitiveness and global influence of Hong Kong’s capital markets, and Hong Kong reaffirms its distinctive role as the bridge linking Mainland China and international markets. Over 300 business elites and professionals attended the luncheon, with Mr. Paul Chan, GBM, GBS, MH, JP, Financial Secretary of the HKSAR Government as the Guest of Honor.

Prof. Raymond Cheng met with Prof. Stephen Shum, Dean of the College of Business of CityUHK, and shared insights with scholarship recipients of the City University of Hong Kong

Prof. Raymond Cheng, Chairman of HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng Limited, Adjunct Professor of the Department of Accountancy at CityUHK and Member of the Departmental Advisory Committee of Department of Accountancy at CityUHK, met with Prof. Stephen Shum, Dean of the College of Business of City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) on 8 December 2025. During the meeting, Dean Shum expressed his sincere gratitude to Prof. Cheng for his longstanding support of the CityUHK College of Business.
Prof. Raymond Cheng established a Raymond Cheng HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng Scholarships. Since the scholarship’s inception in 2022, Prof. Cheng has consistently demonstrated his commitment to motivate undergraduate students of the Accountancy Department of the College of Business to strive for excellence in the field of accounting and in recognition of their efforts in their studies.
Dean Shum expressed his sincere gratitude to Prof. Cheng not only for establishing the Scholarship but also for taking the time each year to meet with the scholarship recipients and share his valuable experience and insights.
On 14 January 2026, CityUHK organized an exchange session for students majoring in Accountancy and recipients of the Raymond Cheng HLB Hodgson Impey Cheng Scholarships. At the session, Prof. Cheng offered guidance on professional development pathways and emphasized the key attributes accounting graduates should cultivate to stay competitive in the era of AI. This annual dialogue equips the future accounting professional s with the knowledge and confidence to thrive in a rapidly evolving business landscape.
